This is my beautiful friend Mellissa. We recently met because her husband took some photography mentoring classes with me and we hit it off. I met Mel and we found we are both training for Marathon's come October. It sparked a great friendship between the four of us and now they are household names to our family I just love getting to know new people. It is so exciting! When I meet someone new I can not wait to get my camera on them! So Mel was no exception...couldn't wait to photograph her, she was hesitant at first, but trusted me and I am so glad!!!! This woman has the most amazing blue eyes and can you believe her natural blond hair, she has the most infectioous laugh, you can't help but be drawn into it! Thank you Mel for a beautiful day filled with laughter, friendship, and the joy of finding a friend that you fit with in such an easy manner.

Lavish Session

I had the privilege of photographing this beautiful woman yesterday at the studio. I had some amazing friends help me out with styling, make-up, and posing...as well as reflection, thank you Angie and Tara! I am building my portfolio for the Lavish website and had some ideas that I wanted to try out, Jenny was an incredible model, thanks hon! I have found my passion in photography when I am shooting an intimate session like this!

Wedding at Farmer's Market

Jos asked me to assist him at this beautiful wedding in downtown Vancouver. The first look was in the Farmer's Market on Saturday morning. I was heading out of town and was only able to be there during the getting ready time and the romantics. Both families were incredible. The sisters including the bride were harmonizing to sing "Going to the Chapel" and I was just floored by the sound of the voices. I enjoyed this beautiful commitment of not only these two people but of the blending of these families.

I had the pleasure of photographing little "I" this past week...what a doll, seriously she was the easiest baby I have ever photographed! It was so much fun, she has the happiest little personality...it is written all over her face that she knows how much she is loved. Thank you mom and dad for giving me to opportunity to play with your little girl, she is such a joy to be around! I am thoroughly enjoying being a "photo nerd" for the weekend at our Whitebox retreat. Yesterday we trailed Sara and Mel from Whitebox Photography as they shot Heather Boyles family at Licoln Beach. We then went into town and shot a few in the quaint little beach town.

Big hair...cheesy pose...leaning up against a tree with you letterman's jacket...sports pictures that are totally posed...I want it!!!! Expectant Mother Photography Studio Session {Portland Oregon & Vancouver Washington}

One of the greatest parts of my job is having friends that are also photographers...I love to hang out with them and learn from them and share our experiences. When one of us has a milestone we are all there to photograph each other and I just love having that camaraderie.
This weekend Heather Boyles and I had the privilege of photographing our beautiful friend, Kelly Dunning. These two ladies have had a profound impact on who I am as a woman as well as a photographer, I appreciate their friendships so much and look forward to the years ahead of us, there is nothing like having true friends you can trust and count on. I have more to post but right now I am just going to do a teaser.

Yesterday I had the supreme pleasure of meeting and photographing a local band, The Neverclaim. These guys braved the monsoon we got hit with as we tried to set up our lighting. It was crazy windy and the horizontal blowing rain did not help Even though we were soaked and had the wind blowing Jerry's hair into crazy do's I think we walked away with some rockin images. So for Valentines Day my husband, Peter, and I went up to Tacoma for a romantic weekend get-away. I know I don't blog about my husband that often, but I just have to gush a little, b/c literally I am the LUCKIEST woman alive. I am continually amazed by the man he is and the way he loves me at the deepest core of who I am. This weekend was a reminder of just how much we were made for each other.I dreamed as a little girl of the Cinderella story becoming real for me, how my knight in shining armor would come rescue me on his horse and whisk me away to my own happily ever after (I know I am a total sap, but you know what it's ok b/c I am loved regardless of my imperfections

Several years into marriage I thought this is my Cinderella story? I thought we were going to live "happily ever after". Why isn't it easier...well I can tell you for one it is b/c Peter and I are some of the most stubborn people that I, personally, have ever had the pleasure of meeting LOL! We are determined and driven and we are flawed. Eventually we figured that out and with that acceptance we began to learn to love each other. It has been an amazing journey and I am in awe that I have this man standing by my side loving me through it all. I married my best friend almost eleven years ago and we are more in love now than we could have ever been at the begining.

So here is to you, my wonderful partner, lover, best friend, anchor that keeps me from sailing away. I am so thankful you choose me.
